I’ve attached some images of the Luggie and our customers on cruises. Cruises are a great holiday choice for travelers with a disability. As modern cruise liners are designed with accessibility in mind. Cruise passengers unpack only once, but are able to visit multiple destinations. Most cruises offer accessible excursions. Plus, they are great value for money, often with food, entertainment and selected drinks included in the cost.
Which Cruise ships have disabled cabins?
The majority of cruise liners offer disabled cabin options, so there’s lots to choose from! If you require an accessible cabin please contact your travel agent or the cruise company to discuss your personal needs. But, don’t delay these cabins get booked up quickly so book early.
Its good to know that disabled cabins are available in all grades, so you have the choice of:
- Balcony cabins
- A cruise suite
- Inside cabins
- Cabins with a window
The higher grade of cabins will cost more, but all cruise cabins offer a touch of luxury and are well equipped these days. If your travelling with a mobility scooter, booking a disabled cabin will ensure you get the benefits the ship offer disabled passengers.
Most disabled cabins offer wider doorways for easy entry and are larger so you can navigate around the cabin with ease. You can also request adapted bathrooms which offer a fully accessible wet room, a pull down shower chair, grab rails and a lowered sink. Plus, lowered wardrobes and vanity spaces.
Where can I take my Folding Scooter?
Cruise ships like to provide access to all decks. So you can travel by lift to all the sundecks and leisure areas on the ship. Plus, gain access to all the bars, restaurants and entertainment venues.
To be honest, there is not a lot that is inaccessible to a Luggie folding mobility scooter on a cruise ship. But, its worth mentioning that some physical activities such as rock climbing and surf pools may not be suitable depending on your level of disability.
However, many other activities will be on offer and there is always something for all ages and all levels of disabilities.
